The Phoenix's Roost

The Phoenix's Roost

For a while now I've been interested in expanding the scope of my projects that actually see the light of day. Thanks to a good friend of mine coming together with me one of those projects has finally taken flight. The Phoenix's Roost is a podcast that focuses mainly on video games, but much like this blog, will cover anything that really suits our fancy. Join my friend Mattt and I for a casual chat about things we, mostly, love.

The first episode focuses on Overwatch. Due to figuring out scheduling, this was recorded two months ago (August 2nd) at this point, so if some things seem dated, that's why. Most of what we said still holds true though, and if you like what you read here, it's worth checking out. Please leave any feedback you might have, and if you like it share it with anyone who might be interested!

You can find the podcast on Podiant.

The Ol' Boobtube: Star Wars Rebels Season 1

Star Wars Rebels Season 1
Directed by: Steward Lee (Mostly)
Starring: Taylor Gray, Freddie Prinze Jr, Vanessa Marshall
Released: 2014

I just can't escape it. As a kid I grew up with Star Wars, luckily the unedited stuff, like many others Episode I put a real damper on my Star Wars high though. In recent years, as the series has begun to truly flourish again (granted I have issues with both VII and Rogue One, but that's another topic) so too has my interest reignited. From watching the movies again multiple times, to experiencing board and card games, the new comics and finally to Rebels. It was only a matter of time before I finally gave it a shot.

#SaveConstantine

When Constantine first aired I really enjoyed the show. I recall thinking less favorably on some episodes, but overall I saw nothing but the basis for an excellent show. For anyone who paid it any attention you're probably aware of the drama surrounding it's possible cancellation and the (allegedly) immense fan outcry against that. Thus, #SaveConstantine was created and used to communicate just how many people enjoyed the show. It was one of the few times I bothered using a hashtag,  because Constantine could have, should have, grown into an excellent series. I planned on writing about the series then, but before I could they announced the show was officially cancelled and by then I didn't feel like thinking on it any further. Having re-watched the first, and only, season over the last couple of weeks I realize only now that Constantine didn't just have potential to become excellent, it already was.

Twelve Days of Christmas 2015

Merry Christmas all (or whatever holiday you partake in)! I hope the season has been treating you well! I don't usually do too much for Christmas, just spending time with family really, but this year my mum and I have been watching Christmas related things to get into the spirit of things. And I'll use anything as an excuse to write more on the old It Is A Title. We switched off picking what to watch each day, leading up to finally watching A Christmas Story on Christmas Day, because what else would you watch? So without further ado, here's our Twelve Days of Christmas for 2015.

Twilight Zone Episode 17 - The Fever

"Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Gibbs, three days and two nights, all expenses paid, at a Las Vegas hotel, won by virtue of Mrs. Gibbs' knack with a phrase. But unbeknownst to either Mr. or Mrs. Gibbs is the fact that there's a prize in their package neither expected nor bargained for. In just a moment, one of them will succumb to an illness worse than any virus can produce, a most inoperative, deadly, life-shattering affliction known as 'The Fever'."

This episode is a perfect representation of the two extremes of The Twilight Show. The realm of complete ridiculum, and a genuine problem.

Heroes: Season 3 (Spoilers)

Heroes season 1 was pretty much amazing. Season 2 was slightly weaker, but I didn't look down upon it as harshly as others have. Season 3 has by far been the most bumpy road I've seen so far in this show.
